We had a busy summer!

How did you spend your summer?  At Kawartha Local we kicked off our third year of operation with a new name, an expanded mandate and a brand new location at 165 King in beautiful downtown Peterborough.

We are now Kawartha Local Marketplace, and while we’re not quite grown up yet, we’ve graduated from our first online baby steps to a full featured bricks and mortar shop – an all local retail emporium stocked and ready to enable your 50 kilometre lifestyle.

Along the way we also received an awful lot of community love and support.  Friends, partners and allies from across the region shared and promoted our vision that local consumers are ready and eager to support regional makers.  Expanding our social enterprise also got us noticed, with invitations to speak at Fleming College and Chamber of Commerce events, opportunities to judge entrepreneurial competitions and awards from Sustainable Peterborough and the Kawartha Chamber of Commerce.

Since our grand opening, we’ve increased our footprint and visibility in the community and we’re not slowing down.  As of November we now host seven members in our retail space incubator program and with the help of our friends at acorn30, launched a renewed online presence and ecommerce solution for local products not usually found online.  We’ve even done some product creation of our own with two posters a set of 6 landmark inspired postcards with plans for many more Kawartha-centric projects to come in 2018.  Stay tuned!!
